Connections

Basic Connectors

When you are putting together your car stereo speakers, there are a number of issues that you need to understand, and connections and wire connectors are chief among them. You will need to educate yourself about automotive wiring connectors before you begin trying to put together your car stereo system. You should first ask for a wire connector when you are looking. Find out what it looks like and what options you have. There are variations, such as the B-wire connector. Find out what this connector looks like and what kinds of connections it can foster.

New Connectors

Ask about any type of new or different speaker wire connections that may allow you more freedom in what you do with your radio set up. For example, there are miniature wire connectors available. Ask how they are used and when they should be used. You may find that low-voltage wire connectors will work for you and that if you get these, you may spend less money in the long run. The connecting wires will make up a significant portion of your budget if you get special wires. At the very least, an electric wire connector installed improperly can cause your stereo not to sound good. The speaker wire connectors may seem like a background product compared to the face of the speakers, but using the wrong ones could make your stereo sound awful.

Quick Connect Systems

If you are not interested in creating a completely new system, think about using quick connect wiring. This option is available for people who want something easy but want to do it themselves. If you do this, then ask about the various metal choices. Will the copper to aluminum wire connections work for you, for instance, or should you go with an aluminum wire connection.

Ready-Made Systems

Also be sure to educate yourself about the wiring techniques you will need to understand. To crimp on connectors on solid wire, what tools will you need? Chances are that you will need some type of wire pliers or other equipment, so make sure that you understand and get everything in one trip. If all of these factors really worry you, then you also can consider a ready-made system, such as the RCA wiring system. All you do is connect RCA plug to speaker wire. Then plug the speaker in, and you are ready to go. There is nothing else for you to do, which is a great gift if you are not sure where to begin.
