Relays
What Are Relays?
Relays are the circuit on which electronics devices run. For example, if you have ever turned off an annoying toy that your toddler won’t leave alone, then you have used a relay switch. Power relays are the real term for these switches, but the concept is the same regardless of what the switch actually does. Relay switches can come in any variety. They can be on/off, and they typically come with some type of size differentiation, such as a 6v relay or a 12-volt relay. These types of relay circuits usually are for larger items, such as battery-powered children’s cars. Adults use them as well, of course, but they are common in children’s toys. Relay circuits are very safe, which is what makes them so appealing.
What Are Some Common Relays?
Automotive relays exist for a number of reasons, but car alarms probably are the most basic. The concept of an electrical relay is that current is going through a system, and when the relay switch is flipped, the circuit is broken, turning off whatever the relay is being used to do. An automotive relay, then is a type of relay that will allow the relay to be opened when the alarm is activated. Once the owner hits the button to turn the remote relay switch off, then the alarm stops going off. Another common example of a relay is the timer relay, which many people use to turn off and on their sprinklers, lights, and other gadgets using electrical relays. These types of relay circuits are very useful in everyday life.
Who Makes Relays?
You can get relays from a number of companies. The Bosch relay is one of the more popular versions, but most electronic companies make some type of relay switch or relay item that you can use. If you do not want to go with the Bosch relays, you also could try to Panasonic relays or the Reed relay and feel pretty confident that you are getting a good product. These companies make your basic relays and the power relays. These types of relay circuits are in place because a system can put out more power than the appliance or electronic item can handle. The relay in those cases acts as a safety mechanism. Anyone who is considering working with electronics should think about buying a relay switch and creating a relay circuit to ensure safety.
