Signal Processors

Signal processors are a big word used to describe audio equipment that can manipulate sounds. The sounds that these signal processors can change are any recorded sounds in music or recorded in real life. Sometimes people who want to change voices on a recording will use these sounds, for example. Other people may use them to try to isolate certain beats in a track of music. The best part about using signal processors is that most of them are fairly automated now, which means that you can correct any funny mistakes you may have made with them.

Making Electronic Music

Composers of electronic music are among the biggest users of signal processors. These people take everyday sounds, such as doors slamming or cars honking and turn them into something else. They can change the frequency of the sounds, which will change their pitch, and also change the noise level or the portion of the sound clip that is prioritized. These clips then can be repeated and turned into interesting songs when they are put together. While traditionalists argue that making music in this way is not right and that the people who do it are not really musicians, others understand that this type of music requires a different set of skills. Though the people making electronic music may not be able to play instruments, they are able to hear the possibilities in different sounds. Many of them even use real musical instruments in their creations. They simply take them and do something unique with them.

Using Processors Without Knowledge

Using signal processors without adequate knowledge is a surefire way to let others know that you are unfamiliar with the way that sounds and music work. People who have these controls on their stereos or who use some type of sound equipment with controls will find that they can ruin a good song if they are not careful. While you can readjust, you cannot just go backward and get everything back to the original point. Making one adjustment at a time is the best way to make sure that you do make any funny changes in the music. The best thing to do when you are starting to play around with sounds is to make sure that you have more than one recording available of any musical selection that you will be changing with processors so that you can correct any errors later.
